Fun Fabric Transfer
Easy to transfer designs are painted with FabricMate brush tip markers! Use drawings, clip art, rubber stamps or be creative and create your own designs!

Supplies

  • 1 yard fine white cotton muslin
  • Reynolds brand freezer paper
  • Y&C FabricMate brush tip markers
  • Y&C PermaWriter- black .05mm
  • Scissors, straight edge, rotary cutter, iron and access to photocopy machine black and white design

Instructions

Step 1
Unroll about 9" of the freezer wrap and cut off roll. Cut a piece of cotton muslin to about 9"x12" and lay it on the shiny side of the freezer paper. Iron the freezer paper to the fabric on the paper side carefully at the highest setting until the cotton is sticking well to the freezer paper. The cotton should have no wrinkles and be completely adhered to the paper.

Step 2
Cut the paper/fabric exactly 81/2"x11" which will be the same size as paper you would put through a copier. Make sure the edges are straight and there are no frays. Using a sharp rotary cutter would be helpful.

Step 3
Lay your image side down on your copier. Your image could be a child's drawing, or any image you choose that duplicates well in black and white. Put the paper/fabric into the manual feed tray of the copier fabric side up. (this step depends on the type of copier you are using. Check copier instructions before proceeding.) Now Copy! The paper/fabric will have the image copied right on to the fabric and now you will be ready to paint with the fabric markers.

Step 4
Keep the freezer paper on the back of your fabric while you color your picture with Fabric Mate. You can also use our Dual Shader pens as well. You can blend colors while still wet and the freezer paper backing will keep the colors from bleeding onto your work area! Line the black copy areas with the Permawriter to make the picture completely washable and permanent. When you have finished coloring and you are happy with the results, remove the paper backing.

Tips

You can use your picture as an applique to sew on to a tee shirt or a bag or you can stitch most of the way around the edges and stuff with poly fill to create little toys or ornaments. The possibilities are limitless! This project is suitable for any skill level.
