Supplies needed:
  • Niji NNC12 tube watercolors
  • Yasutomo Silverado #4 watercolor brush
  • WPW01 Mini Plastic Palette
  • Hot press watercolor paper
  • Fine detailed rubber stamp
  • Black dye based permanent stamp pad
Lana watercolor block and rose stamp Ink the stamp pad well and stamp with firm pressure onto the watercolor paper. Let dry thoroughly or use heat gun to set ink.

Squeeze a little of all the Niji colors onto the mini palette. Have a cup of fresh water and a paper towel handy.

Paint foreground first Wet your Silverado brush first and wipe it on the paper towel to eliminate excess water. Paint in the foreground colors starting from light to dark using carmine & vermilion for the rose and viridian and cobalt blue for the leaves.. Be sure to use lot's of water. In watercolor techniques, the trick is to remember that water comes first, then the color!

Keep the painting wet!

After the foreground is dry, then paint the background starting with a pale lemon yellow  wash and then drop a little of yellow ochre in the wet paint. The colors will blend as they dry. When the paper is completely dry, cut the individual images out and attach  to a card, in a collage or mat them and put in a little frame.
