Instructions:
1. Make a ½" hem
around three sides of the white canvas. Make a ¾" hem
on the remaining side. Iron the canvas flat.
2. Stamp the word "dream" diagonally across
the pocket piece by coloring directly on the foam with violet
FabricMate brush or chisel tip marker.
3. Color the chunky flower stamp with FabricMate colors
starting from the center of the design with violet and move out
with red, then orange. Outline the flower edges in alizarin crimson
then color the leaves green. Lightly spritz the stamp until it
looks a little shiny but not dripping wet. Place the stamp colored
side down on the front of the pocket piece and press firmly,
slightly rocking the stamp to make sure the fabric is saturated.
Lift off carefully and you will have a soft watercolor impression
of the flower.
4. Let the design dry and detail the flower with more
color and soften the color by going over with the colorless blender
pen.. Repeat stamping and coloring on the white canvas until
you have reached the desired effect. The fabric markers do not
need heat setting.
5. Sew the completed pocket piece onto the front of one
denim square with thread and needle along the outside of the
pocket edge.
6. Put the wrong sides of the denim pieces together and
sew 1"
from the edge all the way around the pillow leaving a six inch
opening. Sew another line ¼" from the first to reinforce
the edge.
7. Stuff the pillow with polyester filler or use a 12" pillow
form.
8. Sew the opening closed and reinforce the corners with
extra stitches.
9. Create a fringe by pulling the loose threads from the
pillow to about ¼" away from the stitched edge.
10. Insert a journal and a pen in the pillow pocket. The
pillow is completely washable after twenty-four hours.
