Mizuhiki
Flag Pin Fashioned out of colorful paper cords. The CD
makes a very strong and durable base.
Supplies needed:
Recycled CD
Mizuhiki® cords in red, white and
blue
Super strong double sided tape at 2" wide
thick. (also known as "redline" tape).
Clear crystals
pin back
Craft cement
Briefly warm the CD first with a
heat gun or low temp oven. This will make it easy to
cut. Cut a 1 1/4"
x 2" rectangle with scissors. Remove the reflective
film from the CD by scraping it off with scissors. This
will be your working base.
Lay super strong double
sided tape on the top surface of the rectangle piece. Lay
a piece of protective film (from the tape) next to the area
you will be placing the blue cords. Place the blue cords
onto the top left hand side.
Place about 15 pieces
right next to each other. Trim the left raw edges with the
scissors and remove the protective film off the rectangle.
Place two red cords,
then two white cords and alternated all the way down the
piece. Make sure your cords are close together and there
are no gaps or spaces. Trim the cords all the way around
the edges. You will need seven red and seven white stripes.
Trim excess CD if
needed. Glue clear crystals to the blue section with strong
craft cement. Attach pin to back of piece.
