Folded Book Cover
Soft but strong momigami paper is the perfect choice for this cover.

Supplies needed:
Yasutomo Black Momigami paper
Folded Book

Instructions:
Cut the cover paper the same width and half the length of the original book strip.
Example: If your book was 47" x 11" before folding your cover paper will be 23 1/2" x 11".
Teeny tiny book: 2 1/2" x 5 1/2"
Little book: 3 3/4" x 9"
  1. Fold a zigzag in the paper to make a pocket one third from the left on the lengthwise end. The Z needs to be in the middle of the second book width.
  2. With a pencil, mark the center of the inside of the cover throughout the length as a guide for placement of a fold.
  3. Cupboard fold to the marked line along the strip. Now your cover strip will about the same height as your book.
  4. Check to be sure that your Z fold is in the middle of the second book section from the left.
  5. Use the book and spine widths as atemplate and score folding lines as shown in the drawing below.
  6. Cut off cover after last section if needed and fold into right edge of first spine on the left.
  7. To make flaps to tuck into the Z pocket, fold corners in at a 45 degree angle and reverse the folds.
  8. Fold at scored lines and wrap around the folded book. Slip first and last pages into open cover edges and tuck into front Z pocket.

Note: The black wrinkled Momigami paper (HPSE236) is perfect for this soft book cover. It is strong and durable and will hold up to repeated foldings. It is really beautiful when painted with acrylic interference colors. The wrinkles in the paper make a great textured surface and the highlighting of color adds nice accent. The Momigami papers also come in red, white and green and are available in large parent sheets.
