Kirigami Japanese Maple Leaf
This simple fold and cut leaf is great when made in different fall colors.

You will need a sheet of 6" or smaller origami paper and a good pair of scissors.
Please visit our Origami Basics Page for information about universal paperfolding symbols.

Fold in half diagonally.
Mountain fold three times at equal distance as shown in the photo.
Valley fold inbetween the first set of mountain folds on the right.
Valley fold again between the second set of mountain folds.
Valley fold one more time between the last mountain fold and the left edge of the paper. Keep the unit together as shown.

Cut 1/8" from the edge all the way down the side to create the stem.

To make the leaf petals, cut at a curved angle towards the center of the folds.

Open the folded leaf carefully.

You are finished!
