Origami Card and Envelope

Supplies needed:

  • Fold'ems Origami Paper 6" square
  • Gel Xtreme roller
  • glue stick
  • scissors

Part 1: Folding the envelope

Follow these step by step instructions using the corresponding numbered pictures on the left as a guide:

  1. Take one piece of paper 5 7/8" square. Place it with the decorated side face-down. Fold it in half diagonally.
  2. Fold one corner down so it touches the center of the fold.
  3. Fold the right side over 1/3" of the way across the diagonal fold.
  4. Fold the left side oever 1/3 of the way.
  5. Take the tip of the left side and fold it back so it touches the left corner and makes a triangular flap.
  6. Your paper should look like picture # 6 on the left.
  7. Separate the two sheets making the triangle and pull the bottom corner up toward the middle of the envelope. Squash down to create a small diamond.
  8. To use, fold the top part of the envelope down.
  9. Tuck the top corner into the diamond shaped flap to secure it.

Part II: Making the card

  1. Cut a rectangle of thin cardboard 4" x 2 1/2" Fold in half to make a card 2" x 2 1/2"
  2. Cut a small picture out of origami paper. Add more decorations or cutouts. Glue the decorations to the fron of the card.
  3. Sign the inside with a Gel Xtreme pen, and place the card inside the envelope.
